Material characteristics of blister packaging machine packaging

1. Plastic
The main materials used in the blister packaging machine are cellulose, such as cellulose acetate, cellulose butyrate, and cellulose propionate; styrene, such as uniaxially stretched polystyrene (OPS), impact-resistant polystyrene ( PS); Vinyl, such as plasticized soft PVC, non-plasticized rigid PVC; polyester film.

The key to blister packaging design is the choice of the properties, grades and thickness of the blister material film. Generally speaking, the choice of rigid film should consider its impact resistance, aging resistance, migration (that is, the impact of plastic material composition on product quality), the adaptability of the material to the product, cost, heat sealability and blister Easy cutting and finishing of the product.

2. Heat seal coating
The heat-seal coating is applied to the web material by gravure coating, rubber plate coating, screen coating or combined spraying. The coating amount of the heat-sealing coating on the cardboard or plastic film base should be appropriate to make the entire blister package have the best heat-sealing effect.

The main properties of flux-based vinyl coatings are hot tack, sealing temperature, gloss, rheology, fluidity, etc. The heat seal coating must be compatible with both cardboard or plastic sheet-based blister. Only suitable coatings have good adhesion strength. For example, the coating material used for cellulose acetate blister is completely different from the coating material used for polystyrene blister.

3. Printing ink
The printing ink on the blister packaging machine should have a high heat-resistant sealing temperature (230~250℃), abrasion resistance, folding resistance, no fading, and good safety (it should not contain excessive hydrocarbon grease and anti-sticking agent) .

4. Cardboard
The paperboard is selected by the size, shape, weight and packaging style of the product. The thickness of the cardboard used for blister packaging is 0.36~0.76mm, the most commonly used is 0.46~0.61mm. After heat-sealing the cardboard and the blister, the adhesive strength should be greater than the fiber tear strength. The cardboard must have good printability and coatability. The purpose of the white clay coating layer on the cardboard is to improve the printing effect and heat-seal impermeability.
